LAST MINUTE! Talk by Emilio de Miguel Martínez and Julia Gutiérrez Caba at Fundación Juan March (TODAY, 19:30)

Screenshot_2019-05-07 Arquetipos teatrales del Siglo de OroSome very last minute information: This evening, at 19:30, Emilio de Miguel Martínez (Professor at the Universidad de Salamanca and author, among others, of “La Celestina” de Rojas) and Julia Gutiérrez Caba (actress) will be talking about “Celestina, la secundaria que robó plano” as part of the conferences cycle “Arquetipos teatrales del Siglo de Oro” organised by the Fundación Juan March.

For those not able to attend the conference in person, it will be streamed via Youtube and the streaming service of the Fundación Juan March, Canal March. When the recording is available on-line, I will let you know as well, for thosewho (like me) neither are able to watch the streaming live.

More detailed information at the event’s website.

Provisional programme of “From Celestina to Celestina’s House: Archetypes Old and New in Hispanic and Luso-Afro-Brazilian Cultures”, 19th WISPS Annual Conference (2nd-3rd November 2018, University of London)

celestinas20houseThe provisional programme of the 19th WISPS Annual Conference “From Celestina to Celestina’s House: Archetypes Old and New in Hispanic and Luso-Afro-Brazilian Cultures” (2nd-3rd November 2018, University of London) is now available at the registration website.

On Monday, an updated version will be uploaded, but this first one creates enough anticipation on its own.

Unexpectedly, there only is one session exclusively devoted to Celestina, but, it couldn’t be any other way, the keynote lecture by Dorothy Severin deals with Celestina as well. The other sessions are devoted to male and female literary archetypes, of all times and the whole Luso-Hispanic world, but I am particularly curious about the paper by Lesley Twomey “Joanna of Castile’s Prayer Book: Books of Hours and the Fashioning of Temporal Power”.

If you are in London at the beginning of November, and you are interested in Celestina, you cannot miss this conference!
