Paper on Celestina at the XX Jornadas de Trabajo de la Asociación Española de Bibliografía (AEB)

presentacion_pages-to-jpg-0001As part of the XX Jornadas de Trabajo de la Asociación Española de Bibliografía (AEB), to take place the 27th and the 28th of November at the Biblioteca Nacional de España (Madrid), Remedios Prieto de la Iglesia will be reading a paper on Celestina with the title “La mutación de Melibea como reflejo de prácticas literarias y editoriales en los primeros tiempos de la imprenta”. Her talk is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday 27th of November, at 12:30, but previous registration is needed, so that I do not know if it is too late for registering or if it is still possible to get a free place as a listener.

A full copy of the programme can be downloaded here.

Celestinesque session at the XVIII International Congress of the AHLM

CARTELL_definititiu_AHLM_2019-ba[1]Lately, it has almost become customary to start September with a conference on Hispanic medieval literature, be it the international congress of the SEMYR (even years) or the congress of the AHLM (uneven years). As a result, it has also become quite usual to start september with at least one paper on Celestina.

This time there is a full session devoted to Celestina at the XVIII International Congress of the AHLM (2-6 of September 2019, Universitat de Barcelona), planned for Wednesday, 4th of September, at 11:30, room 308 of the Facultat e Geografia i Història:

UPDATE: I forgot to include a paper by Ana Milagros Jiménez Ruiz (Universidad de Zaragoza), “La Celestina en Barcelona (1525-1585)”, which took place at the 09:00 session and was very interesting.

Two new recordings: Celestina at the Fundación Juan March and the radio show A les portes de Troia

In a past post, I regretted not being able to attend the talk by Emilio de Miguel Martínez and Julia Gutiérrez Caba that took place the last 7th of May at the Fundación Juan March. I was told it would be recorded and uploaded to the Canal March as soon as possible, but I did not expect that it would be as soon as in just four weeks! The video is accessible in Youtube as well.

Unexpectedly, I found a further recording of celestinesque interest. The radio show A les portes de Troia devoted the programme of the 19th of May to Celestina and its historical context (La Celestina i el seu món). I have not been able to listen to it yet, so that I cannot say anything on its content, but I leave here the recording for you to enjoy it.

More Celestina at congresses

More non-celestinesque duties have made it impossible to announce a paper of celestinesque interest at the XVIII Jornadas de Trabajo de la Asociación Española de Bibliografía (13th-14th November 2017, Biblioteca Nacional de España): María Remedios Prieto talked about La Celestina: contiendas suscitadas tras la publicación de la Comedia y algunas correcciones textuales en la Tragicomedia. Neither have we been able to announce the session Celestina and Beyond: Exploring the Abject in Medieval and Early Modern Literature” proposed by Ana M. Montero (St. Louis University) for the Sixth Annual Symposium on Medieval and Renaissance Studies (18th-20th June 2018, Saint Louis University), with a still open call for papers. However, today we have received the proceedings of the V Congreso Internacional sobre el Arcipreste de Hita “Dueñas, cortesanas y alcahuetas: Libro de buen amor, La Celestina, La Lozana andaluza” (26th-27th May 2017, Alcalá la Real), which includes several papers on celestinesque topics, and we would like to share them with you.
